“We believe that everyone should respect the will of the Turkish people,” — said Peskov, answering journalists on the issue.

Earlier on Monday, the head of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev expressed the opinion that the results of the plebiscite will force the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan to act “on the verge of a foul”. The MP noted that Erdogan aims to strengthen personal power and actually refuses to European integration.

In the course of the referendum held in Turkey on April 16, the citizens were asked to decide whether to make changes to 18 articles of the basic law, involving the abolition of the post of Prime Minister and granting the President the authority to appoint Vice-presidents, Ministers and senior officials. In addition, in the case of a positive outcome of the vote, the President will have the right to declare a state of emergency and to issue decrees that can be revoked only by an absolute majority of votes in Parliament.

According to official data, after processing of 99.97 percent of the ballots 51,41% of voters voted “for” the amendment, 48,59% against.
