Putin congratulates Russians on Easter

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated Orthodox Christians with Easter. On Sunday, April 16, reported on the website of the press service of the Kremlin.

“The great feast of Easter has a special moral sense, carries the eternal light of faith, fills the hearts of men with joy, love, desire to do good. Easter celebrations, which are widely held across the country, bring us back to the centuries-old traditions of their ancestors, contribute to promote the lasting spiritual values and ideals,” — said in greeting the President.

The President also noted the work of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and other Christian denominations, aimed at solving social problems. “And of course, the greater their role in preserving our rich historical and cultural heritage”, — said Putin.

The President attended festive night Easter service in the Christ the Savior Cathedral, which was celebrated by the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill. According to tradition, after midnight, the Patriarch and the head of state exchanged Easter gifts.
