Volunteering has proposed to equate to military service

Faction “Fair Russia” in the state Duma in the near future will develop a bill equating volunteering to serve in the army. This was stated by the party leader Sergei Mironov, reports TASS on Thursday, April 13.

The politician reminded that for the posts in state institutions could only be claimed by a citizen, the last army service. “If he takes part in the volunteer movement, to perform certain civil functions, why the legislation as an analogue of [military service] not to do,” — said Mironov.

In July 2013, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a law under which citizens who evade military duty unexcused, are not eligible to serve in the legislative and Executive power.

Under current law, the conscription shall be male citizens at the age from 18 to 27 years.
