MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. The first talks of the Secretary of state Rex Tillerson with Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, which took place on Wednesday, brought some results. According to Lavrov, the parties have come to better understand each other.

Secretary of state met with President Vladimir Putin, who confirmed Russia’s desire to resolve the numerous problems in Russian-American relations.

One of the outcomes of the talks was the decision to appoint special representatives from the foreign Ministry and the US state Department, which will be tasked to analyze the existing problems in relations between the two countries.

Great attention was paid to the topic of Syria. Russia confirmed its willingness to renew the Memorandum on the prevention of incidents in the skies over Syria. For admit Lavrov, the views of Moscow and Washington is seriously differed on the use in Syria of chemical weapons.

Despite disagreements on many issues, Russia and the United States remain United in the opinion that terrorism must be fought by all means.

To restore confidence

“I am sure that many watches that today we met with Rex Tillerson together with the President of the Russian Federation, were not spent in vain,” – said at the final press conference, Lavrov. He also expressed the hope that “these contacts will be continued, as directly between us and our employees, and other departments of the US administration and the government of the Russian Federation”.

Tillerson was supported by his Russian colleague. “We must do everything we can to restore trust between our countries and to suspend them (relations) degradation”, he said.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation criticized efforts by some attempt to prevent cooperation between Russia and the United States to escalate the confrontation. “We believe that this short-sighted approach, especially since history has proven that when Moscow and Washington cooperate, benefit not only our peoples, but also the whole world”, – said Lavrov.

The special representatives will analyze

One of the main results of the first visit to Moscow of the new head of American diplomacy was the decision to appoint special representatives from the foreign Ministry and the US state Department, which will be tasked to analyze the existing problems in relations between the two countries. “We agreed to allocate special representatives from the foreign Ministry and state Department, to detail, without emotion, to look at those irritants that have accumulated in relations in recent years, especially during the years of the Obama administration,” said Lavrov.
