Trump ratified the Protocol on accession of Montenegro to NATO
WASHINGTON, 11 Feb — RIA Novosti. The President of the United States Donald trump informed the Senate about artificiali of the Protocol on the accession of Montenegro to NATO, said in a statement the White house.
“Today President Donald trump ratified the Protocol on the accession of Montenegro to NATO”, — stated in the message.
Trump sent to the Senate a letter in which he noted that “inclusion of Montenegro in NATO will not increase the U.S. share of total NATO budget”, and also will not be an obstacle for US “to fulfill its financial or military commitments outside the Alliance.”
The U.S. Senate ratified the document on March 29.
NATO members in may 2016 signed a Protocol on accession of Montenegro to the Alliance, giving it observer status at the meetings. To complete the procedure, the Protocol must be approved by all the member countries of the bloc. According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, it will happen in June of this year. Montenegro will become the 29th member of the organization.
