In the Federation Council called for a tough response to US actions in Syria

The actions of the US that caused a missile attack on Syrian air base, should not be left without strict assessment by the international community, said in a draft statement of the Federation Council, which the senators are going to take on Wednesday.

The head of the international Committee of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said to journalists that the document, the parliamentarians “Express their deepest outrage and disappointment with the U.S. attack on objects Syrian government troops”.

Kosachev stressed that these actions of the American side in the Scenarios regarded “as an act of aggression against a sovereign state”. “These actions of the United States should not remain without a rigorous assessment of the international community”, — assured the senators.

In the Federation Council stress that this attack was a “blow to the peace process, the talks in Geneva and Astana”.

On the night of 7 April, the United States attacked with cruise missiles from ships on the airfield in Syria shirt in HOMS province, claiming that Damascus at the beginning of April was carried out a chemical attack in Idlib province. At the same time Washington has not shown any evidence of this and have not listened to the call to conduct a thorough investigation before accusing the Syrian government, which has categorically rejected the use of chemical weapons, saying it has long been taken from the country by the OPCW.

According to the defence Ministry of the Russian Federation, the Syrian air force attacked in Khan Sheyhun in the Arsenal of the terrorists with chemical weapons, which were delivered to Iraq. In turn, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Syria Walid Muallem said that the Syrian government forces have never used and do not intend to use chemical weapons against civilians and against the terrorists. Stocks of chemical weapons had previously been successfully evacuated from Syria, in January 2016, the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons announced the total elimination of the chemical Arsenal of the country. For Syria’s chemical disarmament, the OPCW received the 2013 Nobel peace prize.
