The mayor of Gibraltar became “Miss World 2009”
Moscow. 5 APR. INTERFAX.RU — the winner of the title “Miss World 2009” Kayana Lopez became mayor of Gibraltar — the formal representative of the British overseas territories, according to Wednesday edition of The Daily Telegraph.
30-year-old Lopez was appointed to this post yesterday. Thus, she became the youngest ever mayor of Gibraltar. Several local media named her as “the most beautiful mayor in the world”.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, she noted that is proud to be British.
“Gibraltar belongs to the UK and will always be a part of it,” said Lopez.

Before she was appointed to this position, Lopez was the Deputy who held the post Adolfo Canepa.
“As Deputy mayor over the last few years, I have seen that this role requires hard work and dedication,” said Lopez.
It is noted that the mayor of Gibraltar is a formal position, appointed by the members of the local Parliament. His duties include formal administrative proceedings. In addition, the mayor of Gibraltar does not receive a salary.
