Medvedev called for an increase in the production of disposable medical products

Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev pointed to the need to increase production in the country disposable medical products. Such statement the Prime Minister made at a meeting on measures to support the localization of production of medical products in Russia, reports TASS on Thursday, April 6.

In particular, we are talking about different devices for blood transfusion, containers for blood, supplies. According to Medvedev, “the demand for such products is huge.”

He also added that Russia has launched a project to localize production of coronary stents and catheters.

In mid-February, Minister of industry and trade Denis Manturov, speaking about the development potential of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, said that by 2020, 90 percent of drugs from the list of vital and essential drugs (EDL) will be produced by Russian manufacturers.

The Minister stressed that the pharmaceutical industry, production of medical devices and biotechnology are the areas that currently are actively developing.
