Media: Japan for the first time acknowledged the adoption of children by same-sex couple

TOKYO, April 6. /Offset. TASS Igor Belyaev/. The authorities of the Osaka — third largest city of Japan — the first country to recognize the legality of adoption of children by same-sex couple. This was reported by the Agency Kyodo.

The decision was taken on Wednesday: the city authorities have officially confirmed the parental rights of same-sex couples over the minor child. The Ministry of health, labour and welfare of Japan noted that this case was the first in the country. Same-sex couple adopted a child that child services had to take away from his biological parents, mocks him.

The decision of the administration of Osaka was made on the background of vigorous debate in Japanese society about the rights of the LGBT community. A number of Japanese prefectures and counties, local authorities have already decided to endorse gay marriage, but these permissions are of a symbolic nature and do not have formal power in the absence of an appropriate legislative framework at the state level.
