In Lithuania will limit the viewing of Russian TV channel “TV Center”

VILNIUS, 5 APR — RIA Novosti. Commission on television and radio of Lithuania on Wednesday decided to limit to a one month “free admission” in the Republic of the Russian TV channel “TV Center”, the press service of the Commission.

“The Commission found that the broadcast information in the program from January 27, “In the center of events with Anna Prokhorova” on channel “TV Center” violates article 19 of the law on public information, Lithuania, prohibiting to spread misinformation and incite hatred. Stream the Republic of Lithuania is limited to one month”, — stated in the message.

As explained by the Commission in the program “In the center of events with Anna Prokhorova” was shown a report about the events in Lithuania that occurred on 13 January 1991. According to authorities, the program “is harmful for Lithuanian citizens who speak the Russian language” because it “formed a biased opinion, distorted the historical facts in order to influence the opinion and behavior of mixed-age audience”.

According to the Commission, the decision to limit the broadcast will take effect after the resolution of the Vilnius administrative court.

Adds the Commission on television and radio on 29 March this year, Lithuania was visited by the Deputy General Director of TV channel “TV Center” Anton Balashov and the Director of the division for international distribution Sergey Piraeus.
