Fighter-interceptors during the exercise held dogfights in the sky over the seashore

The crews of fighter-interceptors MiG-31 and MiG-31BM held air fights over Peter the Great Bay in Primorye in the framework of the flight tactical exercises in which participated the pilots of the Kamchatka air base of naval aviation Pacific fleet (PF), reported TASS head of information support a press-services VVO on Pacific fleet the captain of the second rank Vladimir Matveev.

“Pilots learned to detect, intercept and engage in combat with aircraft of the conditional opponent. The flights took place in the framework of the flight tactical exercises with the participation of the crews of fighter – interceptors MiG-31 Kamchatka air base of naval aviation of the Pacific fleet. To conduct joint training flights Kamchatka pilots flew more than 2 thousand kilometers to the airfield of the aviation formations of the army, air force and air defense in Primorye”, – said Matveev.

For one flight change pilots flew about 30 flights. In the air they take turns at supersonic speeds practiced joint task of interception of simulated enemy aircraft in the far distance. Also, the pilots practiced the elements of maneuvering with large angles of pitch and roll, had dogfights at extreme settings, the impact of the complex and worked out the landing in the daytime and at night.

The MiG-31BM is part of a missile defense system, it is designed to destroy cruise and ballistic missiles at any altitude. Able to detect and destroy satellites, stealth aircraft 5-th generation, low-flying targets with a trajectory of the envelope of the terrain, unmanned aerial vehicles.

The MiG-31 can carry missiles “air – air” long-range, medium-range missiles and short-range missiles. Also the MiG-31BM can carry precision weapons class “air-surface” and to strike at ground targets.
