The Russians want to see their children’s doctors, soldiers and lawyers

MOSCOW, March 30 — RIA Novosti. Medicine, military and law Russians believe their children are now the most promising areas of employment, while fewer of those who are ready to accept any decision of the child when choosing a career, the survey showed the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM).

Sociologists have decided to find out the ideas of Russians about the ideal profession for children. The survey showed that the most attractive now and in the last ten years, are the medical profession. And over the years the desire to see their children health workers growing: today, more than a third (35%) of Russians who have children or grandchildren, call your preferred profession (12% in 2005).

In second place in the list of best estimated from the parents, the profession of a soldier, for the last five years, she was considered more attractive — identified 13% of respondents (6% in 2012).

To see your child’s lawyer would like 11% of respondents. One in ten believes the preferred areas of employment for their children, working in the profession and pedagogy — they were called for 10% of respondents, and five years ago, an attractive teaching profession is considered, only 4% of respondents.

In comparison with 2005 more attractive to the parents of the engineering profession (9% in 2017 versus 4%), athlete (7% vs 1%), a policeman and a Builder, which is now called by 5% of respondents, whereas in 2005, the specialty is not named at all.

While the financial scope of activities is not considered as relevant: in 2009 the profession of a financier or accountant would choose for a child 17% of parents today — only 9%, say sociologists. In 2005, the business wanted to see their kids 7%, while in 2017 this profession called only 2% of respondents.

The survey showed that the proportion of those who are willing to accept any decision of the child when choosing a profession has fallen from 13% in 2005 to 4% in 2017.

Research Director VTSIOM Elena Mikhailova noted that in recent years there has been a significant transformation in the perception of different sectors of employment. According to her, due to the measures taken to improve the level of financial security and social status of doctors, teachers, military personnel, the attractiveness of employment in these areas increased significantly.

“In General, the results indicate significant positive dynamics — less close relatives are willing to recommend their children to choose a specialty solely on the basis of potential return, giving preference to the most humane and socially significant areas. The structure of expectations of Russians on the professional future of children today, more than a decade ago, meets the current needs of the labor market that provides the potential for the harmonious development of society,” — said Mikhailov.

Company “Medialogia” reviewed the references of different professions in the Russian media. The TOP 5 occupations by number of mentions in the past year included the politician (more than 3.1 million posts), athlete or sports coach (2.6 million), laborer (nearly 2.5 million), journalist and police (for more than two million mentions). “Medialogia” has conducted an analysis of publications for the period from January to December 2016 at our own media, which includes about 39.7 thousand sources.

A nationwide survey “polls-Sputnik” was held from 21 to 23 March 2017 of 1.8 among thousands of respondents; the interview method — telephone interviews. The statistical error does not exceed 2.5%.
