The European broadcasting Union will protect the right of Russia to participate in the Eurovision song contest
Moscow, 27 Mar — RIA Novosti. The European broadcasting Union (EBU) expects that all contractors will be able to take part in the competition and will see to it that among them were Russia, said in an interview with the Berlin newspaper Tagesspiegel, the head of the organizing Committee of the Eurovision song contest the Frank-Dieter Freiling.
He added that official notification about this from the Ukrainian authorities has not yet been reported.
Also the head of the organizing Committee commented on the rumors about the new Russian candidate. “Let’s wait for Ukraine to make the final decision in this regard”, — said Frayling, noting that after this will be discussed further actions with Russia.
Freiling noted that even before the Ukraine decided against the Russian candidate, Russia, unlike other delegations, did not reserved a place to stay. For its part, Russia needs to clearly identify that participation in the form in which we make it possible will be taken,” said Frayling.
This year Russia at the Eurovision song contest must submit Samoilova with a song about love the Flame Is Burning. SBU banned Samoilova entry into the country for three years because of her performances in the Crimea. Russian First channel expressed regret that Ukraine “did not have enough common sense to look civilized” when making decisions.
The European broadcasting Union (EBU) earlier proposed by the First channel to arrange the satellite broadcast of the speech Samoilova, however, the channel refused as it is contrary to the meaning of the event, the strict rule which is the performance live on the stage of Eurovision.
Later, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko said that Kiev is ready to take on the Eurovision song contest representative from Russia, but only if the Russian singer Yulia Samoylova will replace the other contestant that has no problems with Ukrainian legislation.
