Australia evacuated thousands of people due to cyclone “Debbie”

MOSCOW, 27 Mar — RIA Novosti. Australian authorities are evacuating thousands of residents of Queensland in the North-East of the country before the approaching storm “Debbie”, the TV channel ABC.

The weather Bureau warned that the storm could be the worst since 2011, when the country was threatened by tropical cyclone “Yasi”. The Bureau has assigned the storm the second category. It is expected that by Tuesday morning, the cyclone will intensify to the fourth, and the gusts of wind will reach 300 kilometers per hour.

As the channel reports, buses are transporting people from the coastal town of Ayr and the neighbouring home hill. Special refuge from tropical cyclones opened in Bowen and Proserpine, while the authorities announced closure of schools from the Era before Prosperina.
