MOSCOW, 25 Mar — RIA Novosti. Scientists from the medical centre of the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands successfully tested on the mice a drug against aging, reports the journal Cell.
As soon as a person becomes older, the tissues accumulate senescent cells, the article says. According to scientists, they contribute to the development of diseases such as arthritis and diabetes. Developed by Dutch “elixir of youth” destroys these cells, allowing you to turn back the aging process. In the composition of the substance include a peptide, which prompts aging cells to self-destruct.
In aged mice, after administration of the drug increased physical endurance — the researchers noted that rodents began to spend more time running in the “wheel”. In addition, the distance that the animals were overcome during testing, after receiving the “elixir of youth” has almost doubled.
The scientists also recorded the improvement of the internal organs of mice. Even the wool laboratory rodents began to look better.
The study authors noted that a drug may be effective in the fight against cancer. The next step will be testing the product on humans.
