The work of the management centre “witnesses of iegovy” in Russia suspended by the justice Ministry, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the representative office.
The parent organization of a religious movement that manages all of its branches in Russia, was included in the list of extremist organizations of the Ministry of justice. The final decision on whether to ban the work “Jehovah’s Witnesses” in Russia, the Supreme court will on 5 April.
The Ministry of justice on March 17 filed a lawsuit in the Supreme court about the ban in Russia “Jehovah’s Witnesses”. The Agency requests it according to the results of the inspection revealed violations of anti-extremist legislation.
The representatives of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” stated that the said petition will entail “disastrous consequences for religious freedom in Russia.” According to representatives of movement, this decision will affect 400 registered centers and over 175 thousand followers.
