In Australia, researchers found drinkers Koala

Australian scientists have found special drinkers in the habitats of koalas, to save these animals from thirst in the context of global warming.

Koalas normally don’t drink water, getting all the necessary substances from your traditional products like eucalyptus leaves. For water they descend only during periods of severe droughts or forest fires.

On the background of global warming, Australian scientists in 2016 decided to make Koala in the wild drinkers, which is secured on the land and the trees, hoping to help the animal to cope with thirst in difficult periods. In total, the habitat of koalas was found 10 drinking bowls, as well as video cameras that will help scientists to follow the animals.

The experiment results surprised the experts: it turned out that koalas often come for water, even a little heat. All koalas are called for drinkers 193 times and went down to the water even during the day, when usually these animals have to sleep, writes The Dodo.

Researchers are excited that koalas change their behavior depending on the climate change. “It is believed that koalas are particularly vulnerable to climate change because they live exclusively on the trees,” the researchers say.

According to experts, although scientific literature is full of statements that koalas should not be free to drink water, experiments show that adding the necessary vitamins, it will only benefit the animal.
