Gorokhovets was recognized by UNESCO

The city of Gorokhovets, located in the Vladimir region, was included in the tentative list of UNESCO world heritage.

The corresponding entry appeared on the official website of the organization.

Gorokhovets was adopted immediately by two criteria: the object reflects the impact that the interchange of human values within a certain time period or a specific cultural area of the world, on the development of architecture or technology, town-planning or planning of landscapes; the object represents an outstanding example of a type of building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape illustrating a significant stage in human history.

Now the list of UNESCO world heritage in Russia has 16 cultural heritage and natural 10, 23 of the facility are in the preliminary list. Gorokhovets was the first subject of the Russian Federation, entered this list for the last five years, and the first single-industry town whose historic value and preservation was confirmed by the UNESCO.
