Speaker of the state Duma called on to regulate the interaction of humans with robots

Vyacheslav Volodin

Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin considers it necessary in the near future to raise the issue of legislative regulation of human interaction with robotic devices. He stated this at a meeting of the Council for legislative support of the development of the digital economy under the Chairman of the lower house of the Parliament, reports “Interfax” on Monday, March 20.

Volodin stressed that legislation should keep pace with the development of the digital market. “There is a great danger that once we do not create the conditions, we will not be able to produce the product, exporting it to other countries, and will only use what others are creating, and we will lose the advantage,” he said.

According to him, the country has “the best programmers”, so it is important to maintain the conditions for its further successful work.

“It is important (from existing developments — approx.”Tape.ru”) all the best to take and keep, and this means to create conditions” — quoted speaker TASS. said the head of the lower house of Parliament.

He urged the Council members to ensure the legislative development of the digital economy to propose initiatives which can relate to different industries, such as medicine and transportation. “We would be grateful if you have suggestions. Including legislative solutions,” said Volodin.

In mid-February at a meeting with students and teachers of the University in Innopolis in Tatarstan, the Chairman of the Duma said that Russia may become a pioneer in the legal regulation of the development of robotics and artificial intelligence. This issue will be discussed at the forthcoming Council under the Chairman of the lower house of Parliament for legislative support of the development of the digital economy, he said.
