The state Duma agreed with Assad on the establishment of the constitutional Commission in the Parliament

DAMASCUS, March 20. /TASS/. The state Duma has agreed with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on the establishment of a constitutional Commission in the Syrian Parliament. The journalists said the head of the lower house Committee for international Affairs Leonid Slutsky, who is here in the delegation headed by Duma Vice-speaker Vladimir Vasilyev.

“Has been thoroughly explained details concerning the constitutional process and the establishment of the constitutional Commission in Parliament. We now have to discuss it with the head of the Parliament (Syria) All Abbas”, – said Slutsky.

According to him, “the establishment of a constitutional Commission in the Parliament could lead to qualitative shifts in the constitutional process currently underway at the site of inter-Syrian dialogue.”

Vladimir Vasilyev, in turn, said that state Duma deputies together with members of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) discussed on the meeting with Assad, the creation of specialized working group on constitutional issues at the site of an inter-Syrian dialogue in Geneva.
