More than 120 explosive devices was discovered by Russian sappers in the first day in Palmyra

PALMYRA /Syria/, March 18. /TASS/. Russian sappers have started demining historical and residential areas of the Syrian Palmyra. On the first day of work, they found more than 120 explosive devices and two warehouses with ammunition, said the commander of the International mine action mine action centre of the armed forces of the Russian Federation Colonel Valery ovdiyenko.

“The personnel of the squad began to mine the historical parts and places of residence of people in Palmyra. Work is organized on the outskirts of the city and in the historic part, as well as within it. During the first five-six hours staff defused more than 120 explosive devices. The personnel of the task is serious, it is sure that will cope with the task adequately and within the time specified by the Minister of defence of the Russian Federation”, – he said.
