Japan need the details of the plan of joint activities with Russia in the Kuril Islands

Japan wants to specify the plans for joint activities in the South Kuril Islands with Russia. This was stated by the Deputy foreign Minister of Japan Takeo Akiba, reports TASS.

Akiba recalled that last year during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Asian country, the parties managed to reach agreement over agricultural activities on the four Islands and visits of former residents and other Japanese Islands.

The Deputy head of the Japanese foreign Ministry noted that Moscow and Tokyo designed to give the specifics of these agreements. In addition, Japan plans to hear suggestions about joint activities of the Russian leadership.

In February, the Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Igor Morgulov said, Recalling the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the establishment of joint economic activities between countries can be an important step towards the conclusion of a peace Treaty.

Today, March 18, in Tokyo held the first round of negotiations between Russia and Japan about the possibility of joint economic activities on southern Kuriles. This, in turn, should contribute to the acceleration of negotiations on the conclusion of the Russo-Japanese peace Treaty.

In this meeting will participate the Vice-Ministers of foreign Affairs of Russia and Japan, Igor Morgulov, and Takeo Akiba. Then the results of the negotiations will appreciate will discuss the foreign Ministers of the two countries Sergey Lavrov and Fumio Kishida on March 20. And they will meet at least twice: first separately, and second — with the participation of Ministers of defence Sergei Shoigu and Tomomi Inada.
