Advisor to Putin suggested to simplify the issuing of Russian passports to Ukrainians

Sergei Glazyev

The procedure of adoption of Russian citizenship should be simplified not only for the population of the South-East of Ukraine, but for all the people of this country. This opinion was expressed by adviser to the President of Russia Sergey Glazyev, reports TASS on Thursday, March 16.

“I am convinced that this must be done for humanitarian reasons not only for the residents of Donbass but also for all inhabitants of Ukraine”, — said Glazyev, answering the question.

He explained that, in his opinion, “hundreds of thousands of people are under the yoke of the latter-day Gestapo in the form of the security Service of Ukraine” and the country “there is a genocide of the Russian population”. “We must create all necessary conditions to ensure that any people who came from the Ukraine, could automatically obtain here not only the asylum but also the opportunity to work normally with all the rights”, — said Russian presidential aide.

March 10, the state Duma Committee on nationalities supported the draft law simplifying the acquisition of Russian citizenship for Russian speakers. The amendments relate to the category of “Russian speakers”, which has a simplified mechanism for the granting of citizenship. Under current law, the status of native speakers may apply only to living within the current borders of the Russian Federation. The bill expands this category and belong to all citizens born in the territory of the former Russian Empire or the Soviet Union, as well as those “who have relatives in the direct ascending line who were born in Russia.”
