Volgograd vandals ripped and tried to burn the memorial cross

Two unknown persons in black clothes broke and tried to set fire to a memorial cross near the Church of St. John the Baptist in Volgograd. As reported kp.ru the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, March 14.

“In the first half of the night the doors of the temple knocked the man who was walking along the promenade with the dog, and told me [about the incident], the priest Sergey Savenkov, — Seeing the people, the criminals are gone. The guard found a-liter bottle of gasoline.”

Soon, the temple police arrived, however, to detain the vandals in hot pursuit failed. The Ministry of internal Affairs of Volgograd was announced about the beginning of the preliminary investigation.

In July 2016, the member of the Council of Laishevo region of Tatarstan Petr Kuznetsov cut down a six-meter Orthodox cross in one of the villages of the Republic. The Deputy was arrested, he is charged under article 214 of the criminal code “Vandalism”.

In March 2013, in Moscow was cut down and stole a memorial cross in the Lublin district. In 2012 in Russia there was a series of such incidents: crosses were cut down in Arkhangelsk, Chelyabinsk region and Altai.
