The number of dead under the rubble at a garbage dump in Ethiopia has increased to 46
MOSCOW, March 12 — RIA Novosti. The death toll in the collapse of a garbage dump in the suburbs of Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa, has reached 46 people, reports the associated Press.
Earlier it was reported 35 dead and 28 injured.
According to representatives of the city authorities, most of the dead were women and children.
In recent years, the waste began to be dumped in another place, however, not so long ago lived in that area, the farmers appealed the decision on the establishment of a new landfill, the trash once again began to take to the outskirts of the city, which led to the collapse.
At the time of the incident on-site landfill were about 150 people
Rescuers managed to extract a living of 37 people, a few dozen remain under the rubble.
