Slutsky told about the conditions of Russia’s return to PACE

MOSCOW, 10 Mar — RIA Novosti. The head of the international Committee of the state Duma Leonid Slutsky praised the past at the Madrid meeting of the permanent Committee of PACE (parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) with the participation of Russian representatives.

“During the meeting, the meeting held an exchange of views between the parties,” — he told RIA Novosti after the meeting. “We stressed that the return (of the delegation of the Russian Federation) is possible only under condition of revision of the rules of the PACE,” added Slutsky.

The PACE standing Committee session with the participation of Russian representatives was held in Madrid for the first time since the crisis in the relationship.

In 2014 and 2015, the PACE of accession of Crimea to Russia, adopted resolutions, in which he deprived the Russian delegation of the right to vote at the session to participate in the work of statutory bodies and the monitoring of elections. In response, the delegation left the PACE until the end of 2015.

In January last year, Russia decided not to send required to confirm the credentials of the delegation documents, but refused to work with the Council of Europe. This year Russia has also not sent the necessary documents.
