Pamfilova: the presidential elections of 2018 should not be carried out in March

The head of the CEC did not agree with the suggestion of Vyacheslav Volodin to vote on the day of annexation of Crimea.

The CEC head Ella Pamfilova does not agree with the Chairman of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin about the fact that the presidential elections in Russia in 2018 should be held on 18th March.

The best month to conduct the election is April, told “Izvestia” head of the CEC.

“From the point of view of elections for us, the later the better. March not the best month from the point of view of elections. Since elections are announced somewhere in December for a hundred days. And the second half of December and the long January holidays to knock out a decent amount of time of the electoral cycle. Even a week or two does not hurt,” — said Pamfilova.

According to the head of the Central election Commission, to conduct presidential election before March as it is impossible, because it lost the active phase of the electoral cycle from one year to another.

Better to spend the day for a vote closer to the middle of the year

“While this is all a topic for discussion. On the basis of dialogue with many representatives of the parties, of experts, then, perhaps, April is the perfect month to hold all elections-presidential and parliamentary. And better yet later. The farther away from the winter, the closer to spring,” — said Panfilov.

Earlier, the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin hailed the idea of holding elections of the President of Russia in 2018, Sunday, March 18, after the day of signing the decree “On the recognition of the Republic of Crimea” in 2014.
