In the Urals opened a case because of the deliberate infection of women with HIV-infection

Police in the Sverdlovsk region opened a criminal case against the men, deliberately infecting with HIV-infection its civil wife. It is reported by the Main Department of the MIA of Russia in the region.

A criminal case was opened under part 1 of article 122 of the criminal code of Russian Federation (“HIV”). According to the preliminary version, the 33-year-old suspect in 2014 met 39-year-old woman, soon became his mistress. A year later she decided to break off the relationship and he informed her that she was infected with HIV.

“At first the woman didn’t respond to his words, believing that thus he tries to win her back, but later still went to doctors. After the study she learned that she was ill with an incurable disease,” police said.

The suspect knew that he had HIV, but didn’t warn his wife, reported the interior Ministry. For such actions, the man could face up to five years of imprisonment.

In November 2016, HIV was recognized as the most deadly infection in Russia. On 30 September this year, the country recorded more than a million infected. Of these, about 230 thousand people died.

HIV attacks the immune system, the body is deprived of protection from infections and diseases. The most advanced stage of HIV infection is acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). According to the world health organization, at the end of 2015, there were an estimated 36.7 million people with HIV.
