The dispute about the gender of Garfield

American cartoonist, Creator of Garfield Jim Davis has denied rumors that his character has no sex. About it reports The Washington Post.

“Garfield the cat. He had a girlfriend, Arlene,” said Davis. So the artist commented on the reports in which he allegedly claimed about the absence in his character of any gender.

Rumors that the red cat has no gender, appeared on Twitter in late February. The user Virgil Texas has published an excerpt from the article portal Mental Floss reviews the Creator of Garfield. In the article, Davis said that his character is “neither male nor female, and is not representative of any race and nationality, neither old nor young”.

“Fact: Garfield has no gender,” wrote Virgil, Texas. His post has caused controversy among Internet users.
