In Chechnya, have established a memorial sign in the place of death of the Pskov paratroopers

The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and the Governor of the Pskov area Andrey Turchak has opened a memorial sign — a memorial cross on the spot death of the 84 paratroopers of the 6th company of the 76th airborne assault division. About it reports a press-service of administration.

A memorable sign is set in the village of Ulus-Kert of the Shatoi district of Chechnya. The cross height is 2.6 meters weight — 10 tons, it is made of dark gray granite. On the cross there is the inscription “Nika”, the name of the Greek goddess of victory.

A memorial installed at the place where during the Second Chechen campaign kept the defense in the 76th airborne assault division under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Mark Eutuchin. In 2000, in one of the battles with superior enemy forces killed 84 of 90 paratroopers 6-th company.

Among the dead paratroopers were people of different faiths, so the memorial sign has no specific religious affiliation. The composition recalls the image of the Order of Courage and brings together a universal symbol of the sun, the world tree, of life and death.

The second Chechen war lasted almost 10 years and was officially completed in April 2009. According to official figures, it killed at least 7385 Russian soldiers.
