Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrey Artemenko said that in 1954 the Soviet Union supposedly had to give the Crimea to the United States instead of the unpaid debt, according to “Izvestia”. He noted that in 1920 the US have debt of Russia the credit in $ 50 million.
“They laid the Crimea as a territory that needs to be transferred to the United States, if it is not returned,” said Artemenko.
Thus, according to him, when the time came, the Soviet authorities simply handed Crimea to Ukraine, in order not to lose territory. The source of this information, the MP said.
