The government of Japan agrees on the exact date of the visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Russia, which is expected to take place in April-may this year. This was announced on a press-conferences in Tokyo the Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan Acehide Suga.
“The Prime Minister would visit Russia this year in the shortest possible time. However, the exact date of the visit at the moment, considering” – he said. “The agenda is not set,” – said Suga when asked about a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and planned topics for discussion.
As previously stated the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, Abe is going to visit Russia twice this year. “Abe’s coming, he wants to make two trips, it is obvious that it will arrive in the far East economic forum, and this wants to come too,” – said the representative of the Kremlin. Peskov did not rule out that the visit could take place in April-may.
According to the results of Putin’s visit on 15 and 16 December last year in Japan and his meetings with Abe joint statement was adopted, which noted that “an important step on the way to the conclusion of a peace Treaty could be the beginning of consultations on joint economic activities of Japan and Russia on the South Kuril Islands”.
