More than 50 people were injured in the collision of a car into a crowd in New Orleans

MOSCOW, 26 Feb — RIA Novosti. At least 50 people were injured in the collision of a car into a crowd of people who watched the parade in the U.S. city of New Orleans in Louisiana, according to newspaper the Mirror.

Earlier the representative of police of the city reported 12 victims who are in critical condition.

“At least 50 people were injured, ten of them critically,” — said in the report.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the city centre during the festive parade procession of Krewe of Endymion.

According to local TV station WWL-TV, is hospitalized 21 people, seven of the victims refused from hospitalization, the youngest of the victims three or four years. The TV channel said that the injured were hospitalized in seven different hospitals.

According to representatives of local authorities, the driver of the car was intoxicated.

The associated Press news Agency in turn reported that the alleged perpetrator hitting people in custody, he is not suspected of committing a terrorist act.
