The Iraqi military released the airport of Mosul from militants

Military Iraq completely liberated Mosul airport from the militants of the terrorist organization “Islamic state” (IG; banned in Russia). About it reports “RIA Novosti” with reference to a source in security services of Iraq.

Earlier it became known about the beginning of the offensive of the troops of the airport and located to the South-West of the town of camp al-Ghazlani.

Recall, Mosul is under the control of the IG since 2014. In late January, Iraqi forces liberated the Eastern part of Mosul. 19 Feb Baghdad announced the beginning of the operation of cleansing from militants and the Western part of the city. Later that same day, the Iraqi army has liberated two villages in the outskirts of Mosul.
