Yanukovych urged to create a special Commission of the Council of Europe on the events on the Maidan

The ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych called on world leaders to create a special Commission of the Council of Europe to monitor investigation of offences which had taken place on the Maidan. This is stated in his letter to the presidents of Russia, USA, France and Chancellor of Germany Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, Francois Hollande and Angela Merkel, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland and President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani.

Yanukovych insists on the need to demand that Kiev investigate the events on Maidan. According to him, peace in Ukraine can be returned only if an open investigation of the tragic events of three years ago, which gave impetus to escalation of the conflict developed into a civil war.

The former Ukrainian leader called for the inclusion of representatives of the Donbass in the negotiations “channel format”. And in case of failure of the Minsk agreements by Kiev, Yanukovych proposed to hold a referendum on the status of Donbass. He told about it to”Komsomolskaya Pravda”.
