Shoigu called for joint actions of the Russian Federation and the United States against ISIS in raqqa
Moscow. 21 Feb. INTERFAX.RU — Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the joint action of Russia and the United States in the Syrian raqqa could be the beginning of Russian-American cooperation to combat terrorism in the region.
“Our goal is to combine efforts. We have all possibilities for this. We have a common enemy — international terrorism. We Americans recognize it as the enemy,” — said Shoigu, answering questions of students during the II all-Russian youth forum “International military-political and military-economic cooperation: current trends” at MGIMO.
He recalled the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that terrorism cannot be defeated alone.
“We have everything in order to cooperate effectively, everything. And nothing prevents us to start this work. Today, if we do point to talk, it would be possible to begin joint actions in raqqa. Everything is clear, everything is obvious, there is no contradiction who is there. This work could begin. But for this we need to be heard and understood… it is Necessary to stop, sit, and begin to speak normally,” — said the Minister.
