Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the death of the Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin is a heavy, irreparable loss for Russian foreign policy. His condolences to the relatives of the deceased Ambassador was published on the official Kremlin website.
Putin noted that Churkin was a true patriot, a professional of the highest calibre, a man of profound intelligence and extraordinary energy, of rare charm and sense of humor.
“Please accept my deepest condolences in the passing Your husband and father Vitaly Ivanovich. His untimely death is a severe, truly an irreparable loss for Russian foreign policy. And because it happened so suddenly, the pain of loss is felt especially sharply”, — stated in the statement of the President.
According to the head of the state, Vitaly Churkin hard to overestimate. He was entrusted with responsible posts in the Central apparatus of the Ministry of foreign Affairs and abroad.
“But most clearly his ability manifested during the work of the Permanent representative of Russia to the UN. For more than ten years, sometimes in extremely arduous conditions, he firmly and consistently defended the Russian position on major international issues, which required enormous efforts and complete dedication. But no matter how hard had he brilliantly solved the problem and did not know defeat,” – said Putin.
