Putin posthumously awarded Churkin the order of Courage

MOSCOW, 21 Feb — RIA Novosti. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the UN Vitaly Churkin the order of Courage, reported on the Kremlin website.

“For the dedication, vitality and professionalism shown in the post of permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in new York, USA, to award the order of Courage Churkin Vitaly Ivanovich (posthumously)”, — stated in the text of the decree.

Earlier Vladimir Putin said that he highly appreciated the professionalism and diplomatic skill Vitaly Churkin. The President also expressed his condolences to the family of a Russian diplomat and the staff of the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

Churkin was born on 21 February 1952 in Moscow in the family of aviation engineer. 8 APR 2006 held the post of permanent representative of Russia to the UN in new York and also represented the country in the UN Security Council. The diplomat died on Monday in new York, on Tuesday, he would have turned 65 years old.
