The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov called obstacles to the abolition of the visa regime with Georgia, RIA “Novosti”.

“With regard to a visa-free regime, once again — this is quite a complicated issue it related not only to the lack of diplomatic relations, but also with the need to provide security in those circumstances, when not only Central Asia but also the Caucasus, all regions of the South Caucasus, are routes that are actively trying to use the militants, extremists, terrorists and drug traffickers,” he said.

The Minister stressed that further dialogue on facilitation of visa regime between the two countries will be possible only with the suppression of these risks and noted that such cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries can be possible only in the presence of diplomatic relations.

Earlier it was reported that the foreign Ministry made a return to the visa-free regime with Georgia.
