Attacked paratroopers in Chechnya in 2000 received a life sentence

Chechen court sentenced the member of the gang Shamil Basayev and Khattab to life imprisonment for the attack on the Marines in February-March 2000, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the FSB Department for the Stavropol territory.


 


“It is established that the inhabitant of Stavropol territory Maxim Panaryin voluntarily joined the bandit underground acting in the territory of Chechnya. After receiving the training camp of militants proficiency with firearms, having studied demolitions and after indoctrination, he took part in clashes with Federal forces in Chechnya”, – stated in the message of the FSB.


 


Soldiers of the 6th company, 76th guards airborne division under the command of Mark Evtyugina in 2000 has prevented a breakthrough of 2.5 thousand fighters. During the fighting, 84 of 90 paratroopers were killed. The heroism of the soldiers noted 22 separate titles of Hero of Russia, and 69 the order of Courage, 63 of which were awarded posthumously.
