“I am sure that you will be able to apply their forces and other areas. I will do everything to ensure that your experience and your knowledge of the situation in particular region and in the country as a whole has been effectively used in the future,” Putin said.
In addition, the head of state thanked the former leaders for their work in the regions, which, in his words, “has changed for the better”, despite the difficulties.
“I know that you have made every effort to ensure that in a difficult economic situation, especially the last two years, to overcome these difficulties and to create conditions for your successors in the work of development of the regions. This was actually the main reason why I called you here” — said the President.
On 15 February, the head of the Republic of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen has sent Vladimir Putin the statement with the request for early resignation. The President accepted the resignation. Earlier this month stepped down as the Governor of Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev, the head of the Novgorod region Sergey Mitin, the head of the Republic of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn and head of the Perm region Viktor Basargin.
