Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen announced early resignation. On Wednesday, February 15, reports TASS.
According to him, he has already sent the corresponding statement to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
“You know that today is a lot of work on the rotation of personnel at regional and Federal level, and that’s deliberate, weighed me the decision not to go on elections, to which the left 207 days. We need to give opportunity to the candidate of the President to show themselves in the Republic of Karelia to offer the residents a dignified way of its development”, — said the head of Karelia.
The khudilainen became the fifth head of the region since the beginning of February, adopted a decision on early retirement. Previously, resigned the Governor of Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev, the head of the Novgorod region Sergey Mitin, the head of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn and head of the Perm region Viktor Basargin.
Alexander Khudilainen head the Republic of Karelia in may 2012. In February 2016, he received a reprimand from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin for the failure of the program of resettlement of citizens from emergency housing. In October last year, the official said that he is ready to participate in presidential elections of the Republic, if his tenure of office will approve the head of state.
Elections of the new head of Karelia will be held in the region in September 2017.
