Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on health protection Nikolay Govorin stated that last year the birth rate has seriously deteriorated and natural population growth amounted to less than five and a half thousand people, RIA Novosti reported.
“Unfortunately, 2016 is characterized by the fact that the birth rate has declined, 50880, infants born less than for 2015. Natural growth in 2016 was only 5343 person,” – said during the “round table” in state Duma official.
He cited statistics, as of January 1, 2017 the population of our country is 146.8 million people. The increase in population was mainly due to migrants from neighboring countries. With neighboring countries to Russia has arrived more than 250 thousand people. Only Ukrainians, this figure amounted to about 120 thousand.
However, in 9 subjects of the Russian Federation the rise in the birth rate, in other regions, declining birth rates, said the MP, noting that the most unfavorable demographic situation is still in the countryside.
