French fighter jets escorted two Russian bombers allegedly approached the borders of the country, according to the French air force.

In a statement, the military says Russian bombers approached the coast of Brittany, about 12.30 PM (14.30 GMT), after which their support was raised by two fighter Mirage 2000-5 at the base in Lorient and the Rafale fighter at the base in Saint-Dizier.

It is reported that the Russian aircraft was moving in the direction of Spain, but turned back after the appearance of the Spanish F-18.

Official representative of Russian defense Ministry major General Igor Konashenkov said that the route of flight of two Tu-160 took place on Thursday in international waters in the Barents and Norwegian seas and Atlantic ocean.

Konashenkov said that “at some stages of the tour of the Tu-160 was accompanied by the aircraft of foreign States, including pilots of the Royal air force, for which the support of Russian aircraft and ships of the Russian Navy somehow is always considered an exceptional event and the main news of the day.”

According to Konashenkov, all flights of the Russian space forces carried out in strict accordance with international rules of using airspace over neutral waters without violating the borders of other countries.
