The situation in Eastern ghouta in Syria could cause a breakdown in the upcoming Geneva talks mierisch. About it RIA Novosti reported with reference to the UN special envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura.
According to him, the current situation in Eastern ghouta is a city near Damascus a potential threat to the ceasefire and the forthcoming Geneva negotiations. “We talked a lot with the Russians, and Turks that they helped us control the situation, as it can lead to the failure of the talks and ceasefire violations”, he added.
De Mistura also stressed on the need to establish the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Earlier, the UN special envoy for Syria expressed hope that the work of the joint group of Russia, Iran and Turkey will lead to the strengthening of the truce in Syria.
