The Ministry of culture gave a positive opinion on the proposal to establish in Russia the Day of patriotism to celebrate August 6 — the anniversary of the introduction of the food embargo in Western countries. This is stated in the answer of the first Deputy Minister Vladimir Aristarkhov at the request of the Chairman of the Duma Committee on defense Vladimir Shamanov, reports TASS on Thursday, February 9.

In the opinion of the Ministry of culture of Russia, this legislative initiative deserves attention. “However, the mentioned issue shall be considered subject to wide public comment and conduct a historical and chronological assessment of the Russian Academy of Sciences”, — stated in the letter Aristarkhova, a copy of which is available to the Agency.

The representative office also points to the need for financial and economic justification, as a celebration of patriotism will require a budget allocation.

The initiative to celebrate the Day of patriotism endorsed by the head of the Association of entrepreneurs for development of business of patriotism “Avanti” Rahman Anshukov. In his address to the leadership of the state Duma, he noted that “establishing a new memorable date 6 Aug will perpetuate the manifestation of unity within the country, which helped to meet the internal growth to external pressure,” said TASS.

A number of countries, including the USA and member States of the European Union, as well as Canada, Australia and Norway, have established restrictive measures against Russia in 2014 and linking them with the entry of the Crimea into the Russian Federation, and then the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine. In response, on 6 August of the same year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree imposed an embargo on the import of a whole list of products from these countries.
