Lavrov reminded about the failed adventure of Kiev in the Donbass

Ukrainian authorities are trying to solve the conflict in Donbas by force and do not intend to implement the Minsk agreements. Such opinion the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with “Izvestia” published on Friday, February 10.

“There is a gross violation by Ukraine of its commitments under the Minsk agreements, which it, apparently, is not going to. Instead of efforts to achieve sustainable peace, the Kiev authorities are trying hard to achieve a military solution to the conflict”, — said the Minister. While Lavrov recalled that the previous such attempts in 2014-2015, which he called “adventures” ended for Kiev failure.

“If the Kiev rulers really want conflict resolution, exit at them one: to immediately cease armed provocations, to observe the existing agreements on ceasefire and begin, finally, to the implementation of all the provisions of”Complex measures,” including those relating to political aspects of settlement,” — said Lavrov.

The Russian foreign Minister also noted that the data of the OSCE monitoring mission confirmed the guilt of the Ukrainian side in recent recent escalation of the conflict in the Donbas, “the Responsibility for a new round of escalation of the situation are precisely the radical and nationalist forces in Kiev. This is documented by the reports of the Special monitoring mission of the OSCE,” he said.

7 Feb permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin said that Kiev did not receive the support of member countries of the Security Council of the United Nations at the meeting about the situation in the Donbass. February 1, Lavrov said that the West has no illusions about the role of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the escalation of the conflict in the Donbass. At the same time he reminded that the Ukrainian leader has signed the Minsk agreement and “required to comply with them”.

The aggravation of the situation in the Donetsk region began after the APU attempts to go on the offensive in late January. The battles of Avdiyivka were the most violent since August 2015, when Kiev security forces conducted massive bombardment of the territory of the breakaway Donetsk people’s Republic.

The Minsk agreement is the document agreed at the summit in Minsk on 11-12 February 2015 leaders of Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia in the format “channel four” to de-escalate the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
