American politicians wishing to ban the US President Donald Trump to cancel anti-Russian sanctions not care about the welfare of their country. This opinion was expressed by the head of the international Committee of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev. His words leads RIA Novosti on Wednesday, February 8.
“In this initiative I see (…) selfish political interests, implement their own policies regardless of what now may constitute the interests of the United States, and, of course, despite what may be the impact from the normalization of Russian-American relations”, — said Russian Senator.
Kosachev noted that against the normalization of Russian-American relations actively serve five senators. According to him, for them, the change in policy towards Russia “would be a personal defeat and perhaps even the collapse of their political career.”
Earlier Wednesday, CNN reported that a group of senators of the U.S. Congress drafted a bill blocking the abolition of the trump restrictions against Russia. The authors of the initiative are Republicans Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, John McCain, and Democrats Ben Cardin, Claire McCaskill and Sherrod brown.
Trump during election campaign has declared its readiness in the event of his victory to consider recognition of Crimea as part of Russia, as well as the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions.
