In the state Duma responded to a call for Tymoshenko to impose martial law in the Donbass

The leader of the opposition party “Fatherland” Yulia Tymoshenko is trying to raise their low political rating and enlist the support of European politicians. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on defence Yury Shvydkin in an interview with “Tape.ru” on Monday, February 6.

“I think that there is a struggle between the political elites regarding the possible redistribution of power in Ukraine. Obviously, what coherence they have, but everyone tries to show themselves in the light, not the best for the Ukrainian people and the West,” said the MP, commenting on Tymoshenko’s call to impose martial law in the Donbass.

According to him, many Ukrainian politicians including Tymoshenko, not concerned with the interests of the citizens. “I am convinced that the people of Ukraine do not want the introduction of the fighting, because there are appropriate sacrifices. If someone thinks that these sacrifices will be only on the side LNR and DND, they are deeply mistaken”, — said the MP.

Earlier on Monday, Tymoshenko said the need to impose martial law in the South-East of Ukraine. She also urged Kiev to defend the position that the situation in the Donbass is “the war of Russia against Ukraine”, reports “RIA Novosti Ukraine”.

On 5 February, the Deputy commander of the operational command of the self-proclaimed Donetsk national Republic Eduard Bacurin reported that Ukraine is pulled to the contact line in the Donbass additional forces and equipment, increasing the grouping of troops.

The worsening situation in the Donbas began in late January of this year after attempts by the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) to break through militia positions near Avdeevka. The fighting in this area were the most intense from August 2015, when Kiev security forces conducted massive bombardment of the territory of the DNI.
