Member of Council of Federation Elena Mizulina urged to share in the beating and spanking children. Thus in an interview with RT, she commented on the decriminalization of domestic violence.
“Spanking is not a beating. Is the cuff you need to take the child and put the parents?” — said Mizulina, adding that to protect family members from violence, enough of the Administrative code.
“If you are slapped, gave a slap, it will be an administrative sanction: a fine or arrest, or compulsory work. But if there is obvious harm — grazes, bruising, concussion, this article of the Criminal code,” — said the Senator.
The law on decriminalization of family violence January 27 was passed by the Parliament on February 1 and approved by the Federation Council. For the first time applied close to people beatings of citizens planned to pursue criminal and administrative paper. However, repeated actions will be considered a criminal offense. Under the law, beatings are acts that cause physical pain but not leading to short-term health and disability.
In January the press-Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov refused “to identify family violence as some minor manifestations, something of an overblown”. However, he recommended not to mix “family relationships and relapse”. At the same time, according to Peskov, the creation of strong families in Russia is a priority.
